La Peรฑita de Jaltemba Murals and a Pleasant Walkway

 Beauty in La Peรฑita

I'm impressed with the murals I've seen so far in La Peรฑita de Jaltemba, Nayarit. Here are just a few of the beautiful works of art. I'll add to this blog post as I see more murals during our walks. Any suggestions are welcome.

Hummingbirds and Tropical Garden
This cozy walkway in La Peรฑita is where the above two murals can be seen. We discovered it when we came out the back door of Julio's Steakhouse on Emilio Zapata.
The Front of the Malecรณn Wall is a Mural
The La Peรฑita Sign on the Malecรณn is a Series of 8 Murals
Under the Sea Mural Near the Elementary School

To view my blog post, Murals of Sayulita: A Walking Tour, click HERE. That one probably needs some updates. Next time we get to Sayulita, I'll do that. Walking to discover murals is great exercise!

I'm excited to be writing my blog articles again. Now that I've published my new book, I'll have time to post two to four per month. Any topic suggestions are welcome.

MEXICO FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE: A Novel is Available!

 September 21, 2023 Release Date!

I have exciting news—MEXICO FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE: A Novel is now available for pre-order! Order the eBook now through Amazon worldwide and receive it on September 21, 2023.

While this story has some similarities to my life with Jon as expats in Mexico, the book is fiction. Some places named are factual but used fictitiously, giving a realistic picture of Healthy Living in Mexico. You can take a look at the description HERE.

Living in paradise was a dream...
until it became the way to find healing.

See expat life through Jake and Lindsay's eyes in this series of novels. Leaving the stress of their careers in the United States was the best decision they made. Moving to Sayulita, Mexico, was wonderful until healthcare became important.

In the third novel of this riveting series, a couple faces insurmountable odds, battling advancing Parkinson’s disease, access to medication, and other healthcare challenges in Mexico while the world is gripped by the coronavirus pandemic.

We're On the Road in Mexico Again in a Motorhome! Puerto Vallarta to Patzcuaro and Back

From Patcuaro, Michoacan to Puerto Vallarta

Celebrating Our Purchase in Patzcuaro
It's been three and a half years since we sold our fourth motorhome, and we've missed traveling in an RV! Not only that, but Jon was bored and needed a project.

When we saw this 2005 Minnie Winnie with Mexico registration for sale in Patzcuaro, we decided to find a driver to take us to see it. We purchased it and started planning our trip home to Puerto Vallarta!

Jon and Sophie with Our 2005 Minnie Winnie
The first thing we decided was that we needed to take shorter drives during his trip than we did in the past. So, we divided the route from Patzcuaro to Puerto Vallarta into four legs, stopping for a few nights at each of the three RV Parks along the way.
We Made This 485 Mile Trip, Slowly Over a Week
Our first stop was at Roca Azul RV Park Resort in Jocotepec, Jalisco, on Lake Chapala. We've stayed there many times and always enjoy it.
Roca Azul's Lighthouse Overlooking Lake Chapala
Roca Azul's Pool and Picnic Area During the Summer
After two nights at Roca Azul, we headed to Santa Maria del Oro Lake in Nayarit. We stayed at Koala Bungalows and RV Park. It was inexpensive, 300 pesos per night, but the services were in poor condition. The lake is at 3500 feet, so the August weather is comfortable, a nice break from the heat and humidity we would be experiencing in the beach towns. But we missed the Pacific Ocean, so we headed to La Penita.
La Penita de Jaltemba Malecon
La Penita de Jaltemba, Nayarit, is one of the beach towns on Hwy. 200. We stayed at Little Rigs RV Park for a few nights before heading to Puerto Vallarta. La Penita hasn't changed much since we were there many years ago, though the Malecon has been upgraded.

(Sophie is Under the Table)
We're glad to be back in Puerto Vallarta. Stay tuned for our monthly motorhome adventures.

10 VALUE RESTAURANTS in Puerto Vallarta--Our Favorites So Far (Updated Jan. 28, 2024)

Two Eateries Next Door to Each Other—We Go To Both

.     With the dollar-to-peso exchange dropping, we are tightening our belts. Our dollars just don’t stretch as far as they did a year ago. The first place to save pesos is restaurants with good food, a lower price, and attentive servers. We also choose dog-friendly restaurants so Sophie can come. These are some of our favorites, not in any particular order.

Side Note: Most of these don’t have air conditioning, so in the summer, we go to dinner a little later when the temperature is cooler.

      1. Derby City Burgers and Jalato

We share one burger with fries (we choose sweet potato fries) and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. Then we have room for a scoop of our favorite gelato at Jalato’s.

2. Hisao

This hidden gem is our favorite place for sushi, mixed fish, shrimp, vegetable tempura, and teriyaki chicken.

3. Sonorita for Al Pastor Tacos and Delicious Guacamole

4. La Traviata for Italian Food with a View

5. Cuates y Cuetes on the Beach Next to the Los Muertos Pier

6. Los Molcajetes--For tacos and volcanes (Now I know what volcanes are.)

7. Cafe de Olla--BBQ ribs, chicken, twice baked potatoes, and Mexican food, air conditioning in the back room, but it's still warm.

8. Tony’s Please--I had delicious shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, and Jon had chicken parmigiana. We took enough home for lunch the next day.

9. El Barracuda--Great fish and shrimp tacos on the beach!

10. Eclecticos--Sadly, this restaurant has closed. So, we've added OkJosรฉ! Restaurante Bar.

10A. OkJosรฉ! Restaurante Bar--Traditional Mexican Food with a Flair

Traditional Chile en Nogada
